South Africa Beat Korea Republic 1-0 to Reach First-Ever FIFA World Cup Knockout Stage

South Africa created history by reaching the FIFA World Cup knockout stage for the first time after defeating Korea Republic 1-0 in a crucial Group A encounter.

The decisive moment came in the second half when substitute-assisted attacker Thapelo Maseko found the net after a brilliant build-up by Teshpang Moremi. South Africa had looked dangerous throughout the match, forcing several saves from Korean goalkeeper Kim Seunggyu. Korea Republic introduced star forward Son Heung-min after the break in search of a breakthrough, but the Africans remained disciplined.

Maseko’s winner secured second place in Group A and a Round of 32 clash against Canada, while Korea Republic must wait to discover whether they qualify as one of the best third-placed teams.
