Yuki Bhambri and partner Andre Goransson bowed out of the Indian Wells Open after a hard-fought semifinal loss to cousins Arthur Rinderknech and Valentin Vacherot.
The pair fell 7-5, 6-7(3), 10-5 in a thrilling contest. Bhambri and Goransson staged a late comeback in the second set to force a tiebreak, which they won to push the match into a deciding match tiebreak. However, Rinderknech and Vacherot dominated the final stretch to seal their first Masters 1000 doubles final berth.
The semifinal marked Bhambri’s maiden appearance at this stage in a Masters 1000 event.
