Kevin Pietersen has stepped down as mentor of the Delhi Capitals ahead of the Indian Premier League 2026 season, citing time constraints.
The former England captain announced his decision on social media, saying he could not commit the time the role demands but will return as a commentator during the tournament. Pietersen joined the franchise as mentor in 2025, working with the coaching staff led by Hemang Badani. Meanwhile, the Board of Control for Cricket in India confirmed the first phase of IPL 2026 will run from March 28 to April 12, featuring 20 matches across 10 venues in India.
