India thrashed Zimbabwe by 121 runs in the second women’s ODI at the BCA Stadium on Sunday, sealing the three-match series 2-0 with one game remaining.
Vaishnavi Sharma claimed her maiden international four-wicket haul, while Deepti Sharma starred with both bat and ball. India posted 328/6 after centuries from Harmanpreet Kaur (126) and Deepti (106 not out). Chasing 329, Zimbabwe were bowled out for 207 in 48.5 overs despite promising contributions from Modester Mupachikwa (49), Chipo Mugeri-Tiripano (46) and Beloved Biza (34).
Vaishnavi led India’s bowling attack with impressive figures of 4/39 from 10 overs, dismissing Mupachikwa, Biza, Michelle Mavunga and captain Josephine Nkomo. Deepti followed her unbeaten century with 3/32, removing Nyasha Gwanzura, Nomvelo Sibanda and Tendai Makusha.
Sayali Satghare, N Sree Charani and Jintimani Kalita picked up one wicket each. After Zimbabwe’s second-wicket partnership was broken, India’s spinners tightened their grip on the contest, restricting the hosts and completing a commanding victory.
