Veteran Australia batter Usman Khawaja announced on Friday that he will retire from international cricket after the fifth Ashes Test against England at the Sydney Cricket Ground. Making the announcement alongside his family, Khawaja said the decision marked the end of a 15-year international career.
He has scored over 8,000 runs across formats, featuring in 87 Tests, 40 ODIs and nine T20Is, with 16 Test centuries to his name. The left-hander will bow out at his home ground, where he debuted in 2011.
Khawaja will continue playing domestic cricket, including the Big Bash League and Sheffield Shield.
