Washington Sundar has been ruled out of the remaining two ODIs against New Zealand after suffering a side strain during the series opener in Vadodara. The BCCI confirmed that Sundar felt discomfort in his left lower rib area while bowling and will undergo further scans.
Ayush Badoni has been named as his replacement, earning his maiden ODI call-up and joining the squad in Rajkot. Sundar bowled five overs before leaving the field and later batted at No. 8 despite visible discomfort. He is the second Indian casualty after Rishabh Pant, with Dhruv Jurel replacing the wicketkeeper-batter.
