New Zealand clinched the ODI series after captain Mitchell Santner’s blistering 34* off 15 balls powered a five-wicket win over the West Indies in a rain-reduced 34-over match in Napier.
Chasing 248, the hosts needed 40 off the last three overs before Santner exploded with two fours and a six off Matthew Forde, then further boundaries off Shamar Springer to seal victory with three balls remaining. Devon Conway (90) and Rachin Ravindra (56) set up the chase, while Tom Latham finished unbeaten on 39.
Earlier, Shai Hope’s superb 109 lifted the West Indies to 247-9. Game three is in Hamilton on Saturday.
