The first T20 International between New Zealand and England at Hagley Oval, Christchurch, was abandoned due to persistent rain on Saturday.
England, sent in to bat, posted 153-6 in their 20 overs, with Sam Curran’s unbeaten 49 lifting them from 81-5 after Jos Buttler’s dismissal for 29. Play was halted for 30 minutes due to rain before the innings ended.
Mitchell Santner impressed with 1-20 in four overs, while all six Kiwi bowlers claimed a wicket each. The second match of the series will be played on 20th October at the same venue.
