Skipper Suryakumar Yadav played a captain’s knock, smashing an unbeaten 84, as India registered a 29-run win over the USA in their ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 opener in Mumbai.
Recovering from 77/6, India posted 161/9, with Suryakumar leading the fightback. Stand-in pacer Mohammad Siraj then delivered a superb spell, claiming 3-29 after coming in as a last-minute replacement.
Arshdeep Singh and Axar Patel chipped in with two wickets each as the USA were restricted to 132/9, giving the defending champions a relieving start to their campaign.
