Cooper Connolly smashed a quickfire 47 off 27 balls as Australia defeated Bangladesh by four wickets in the opening T20I to take a 1-0 lead in the three-match series.
Chasing 132, Australia recovered from early setbacks through Connolly’s aggressive knock, which included four boundaries and three sixes. Despite late wickets, debutants Joel Davies and Xavier Bartlett guided the visitors home with 10 balls remaining. Earlier, Australia’s spin attack dominated after Bangladesh opted to bat, restricting the hosts to 131 all out.
Davies and Adam Zampa claimed three wickets each as Australian spinners accounted for nine wickets, setting up a comfortable chase and series advantage.
