Indian cricket enjoyed a stellar showing at the Wisden Awards, with Shubman Gill, Ravindra Jadeja, Rishabh Pant and Mohammed Siraj named among the Five Cricketers of the Year. Gill also earned the Test Performance of the Year honour for his twin centuries at Edgbaston.
Deepti Sharma was named Leading Women’s Cricketer, succeeding Smriti Mandhana, while Mitchell Starc claimed the men’s award. Abhishek Sharma was named Leading T20 Cricketer.
Wisden editor Lawrence Booth also criticised The Hundred’s IPL links and England’s poor Ashes campaign.
