New Zealand have suffered a setback ahead of the fourth T20I against South Africa, with Tom Latham ruled out due to a thumb injury. The wicketkeeper-batter was hit by pacer Nqobani Mokoena during the third T20I at Eden Park but bravely continued to score an unbeaten 63, guiding his team to an eight-wicket win.
Tom Blundell has been drafted into the squad as cover for the Wellington match. Latham has been sent to Christchurch for scans, and his availability for the fifth T20I remains uncertain.
In his absence, James Neesham will captain New Zealand, marking his first stint as T20I skipper.
