After a goalless 90 minutes, Torres converted Nico Williams’ headed pass with a powerful left-footed strike. Spain dominated possession and created the better chances, while goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez kept Argentina in the contest with several key saves.
Argentina’s hopes suffered when Enzo Fernandez was sent off late in normal time. Spain finished the tournament unbeaten to lift their second World Cup title after 2010.
