Top players dominated early rounds of the 87th Senior National Badminton Championships on Wednesday, with women’s top seed Unnati Hooda, Tanvi Sharma, Aakarshi Kashyap and junior Rounak Chauhan advancing comfortably.
Unnati defeated Akanksha Matte, while Tanvi beat Shaina Manimuthu. Aakarshi and Ashmita Chaliha also secured straight-game wins. Sixteenth seed Purva Barve was the only major upset, losing to M Meghana Reddy.
In men’s singles, Chauhan, D.S. Saneeth and Sanskar Saraswat progressed. Earlier this month, Unnati and Kiran George won the Odisha Masters titles.
