Ricky Ponting praised Shreyas Iyer’s leadership after Punjab Kings pulled off a record IPL chase of 265 against Delhi Capitals.
Ponting said he specifically targeted Iyer at the auction, believing he could rebuild the franchise and finish games under pressure. Iyer justified that faith with an unbeaten 71 off 36 balls, steering PBKS to victory with seven balls remaining.
Ponting also lauded the opening pair of Prabhsimran Singh and Priyansh Arya, but admitted the bowling and fielding departments still need improvement.
