Ace Indian shuttler P V Sindhu bowed out of the Malaysia Open BWF World Tour Super 1000 after losing in straight sets to China’s world No. 2 Wang Zhiyi in the women’s singles semifinals.
Sindhu went down 16-21, 15-21 in a match where unforced errors at key moments proved costly. Playing her first tournament since returning from a foot injury, the two-time Olympic medallist showed flashes of form but struggled to sustain momentum. She let slip an 11-6 lead in the second game as Wang staged a strong comeback.
Despite the loss, Sindhu’s semifinal finish marked an encouraging return ahead of the season.
