Pakistan opener Abdullah Fazal has been ruled out of the upcoming Test series against West Indies and England after suffering a lower back injury during a training session at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Tarouba.
The 23-year-old sustained the injury ahead of the first Test and will undergo rehabilitation following an MRI assessment. Fazal impressed on his Test debut against Bangladesh with twin half-centuries and was expected to open the innings.
His absence could hand Awais Zafar a Test debut, while Imam-ul-Haq is likely to return as opener. Captain Babar Azam wished Fazal a speedy recovery.
