Pakistan defeated Sri Lanka by six runs in the opening ODI in Rawalpindi on Tuesday, taking a 1-0 lead in the three-match series.
Salman Agha starred with an unbeaten 105 off 87 balls, guiding Pakistan to 299-5 after a 138-run stand with Hussain Talat (62). Haris Rauf then claimed 4-61 to restrict Sri Lanka to 293-9 despite Wanindu Hasaranga’s valiant 59.
The match went ahead amid tight security following a nearby suicide attack in Islamabad. Hasaranga earlier took 3-54, while Babar Azam and Fakhar Zaman contributed 29 and 32 respectively. The next two ODIs will also be played in Rawalpindi.
