Left-arm spinner Jayden Lennox produced a career-best spell of 5/19 as New Zealand defeated West Indies by five wickets in the second ODI on Tuesday to level the five-match series 1-1.
Chasing a modest target of 139 on a spin-friendly surface, the Black Caps stumbled to 96/5 before Tom Latham’s unbeaten 37 and Mark Bracewell’s steady 18 guided them home with 104 balls to spare. Earlier, West Indies collapsed dramatically from 63/0 to 138 all out after Lennox ripped through the middle order in just his seventh ODI. Mitchell Santner also struck key blows, while Bracewell crossed the milestone of 1,000 ODI runs.
The victory was New Zealand’s 400th win in men’s ODI cricket.
