Mumbai Indians Make Major Coaching Shake-Up, Three Coaches Exit

Mumbai Indians have made major changes to their coaching staff as part of an ongoing restructuring ahead of the next IPL season. The franchise has parted ways with bowling coaches Lasith Malinga and Paras Mhambrey, along with fielding coach Carl Hopkinson.

The move comes days after Mumbai Indians parted ways with head coach Mahela Jayawardene. Former West Indies captain Kieron Pollard has been appointed as the franchise’s new head coach. Former India fielding coach T Dilip is expected to join the team in the same role.

Malinga remains one of Mumbai Indians’ most iconic figures, having played a key role in four IPL title victories and the 2011 Champions League T20 triumph. He later returned to the franchise as a mentor and coach.

Mhambrey served as bowling coach for the past two IPL seasons and had previously been associated with MI. Hopkinson joined the franchise ahead of the 2025 season after working as England’s lead fielding coach from 2018 to 2024.
