Luis de la Fuente on Spain World Cup final

Spain head coach Luis de la Fuente hailed his team’s remarkable progress after a 2-0 victory over France secured a place in the FIFA World Cup 2026 final.

Goals from Mikel Oyarzabal and Pedro Porro sealed Spain’s first World Cup final appearance since lifting the trophy in 2010. De la Fuente said his side had “recaptured the spirit of 2010” and reached their peak at the perfect stage of the tournament. He praised the players’ unity, commitment and collective mindset, insisting Spain are “unbeatable” when they perform as a team. The coach also revealed King Felipe VI congratulated the squad after the victory.

Spain will now face either England or Argentina in Sunday’s World Cup final.
