India storm into final of the Sultan of Johor Cup 2025 with win over Malaysia
The Indian junior men’s hockey team booked their place in the Sultan of Johor Cup 2025 final with a hard-fought 2-1 win over hosts Malaysia in Johor on Friday.
Gurjot Singh (22’) opened the scoring, while Sourabh Anand Kushwaha (48’) netted the decisive goal after Malaysia’s Naaveenesh Panicker (43’) had equalised. India dominated possession and created several scoring chances, showing composure in defence to withstand Malaysia’s late pressure.
With the victory, India advanced to the final, where they will face Australia on October 18, aiming to clinch another Sultan of Johor Cup title.
