India Beat Pakistan 5-3 to Reach Next Stage of Hockey World Cup

Captain Harmanpreet Singh and Abhishek scored two goals each as India defeated Pakistan 5-3 in a thrilling Pool D clash at the FIH Men’s Hockey World Cup 2026 in Amstelveen on Wednesday.

Harmanpreet converted penalty corners in the fifth and 21st minutes, while Abhishek struck through field goals in the 11th and 24th minutes to put India 4-1 ahead. Pakistan responded through Hannan Shahid, who scored twice, and Sufyan Khan, but India maintained control. Hardik Singh added India’s fifth goal from a penalty stroke in the 35th minute. The victory saw India finish second in Pool D behind unbeaten England and advance to the next stage.
