Robinson, Tongue Take Five Each as England Bowl Out Pakistan for 171
Ollie Robinson and Josh Tongue claimed five wickets each as England made a commanding start to the post-Bazball era by bowling Pakistan out for 171 on the opening day of the first Test at Headingley.
Robinson finished with 5-51 in 18 overs, becoming the first bowler to take a wicket with the first ball of a Test series in England. Tongue returned 5-46 in 9.1 overs as Pakistan lost their final seven wickets for just 54 runs. Abdullah Shafique top-scored with 61, while Imam-ul-Haq made 42. England reached 112-2 at stumps, trailing by only 59 runs. Joe Root was unbeaten on 37, sharing an unbroken 64-run partnership with Jordan Cox.
The match marks England’s first Test since the departures of Ben Stokes and Brendon McCullum.
