Manav Suthar Stars as India Beat Sri Lanka by 165 Runs in Galle Test
Young left-arm spinner Manav Suthar produced a stunning 6-55 to lead India to a commanding 165-run victory over Sri Lanka in the first Test at Galle.
In only his second Test, Suthar finished with match figures of 10-101, claiming his second five-wicket haul and maiden 10-wicket match haul as Sri Lanka were bowled out for 206. Chasing 372, Sri Lanka were kept in the contest by Dhananjaya de Silva’s 59 and Sonal Dinusha’s 84, but India’s bowlers maintained pressure throughout. Ravindra Jadeja dismissed de Silva before Suthar’s devastating three-wicket maiden in the 76th over ended Sri Lanka’s resistance.
Prasidh Krishna took two wickets as India completed victory in 77.4 overs. The win gives India a 1-0 lead in the two-Test series and 12 World Test Championship points.
