India Tighten Grip as Sri Lanka Stumble to 84/4 in Galle Test
India tightened their grip on the first Test against Sri Lanka as disciplined bowling reduced the hosts to 84/4 at stumps on day four in Galle on Tuesday.
Chasing 372 for victory, Sri Lanka still need 288 runs with six wickets remaining. Manav Suthar took two wickets, while Prasidh Krishna and Mohammed Siraj claimed one each. Sri Lanka were reduced to 21/3 before Dhananjaya de Silva and Lahiru Udara offered brief resistance. Suthar dismissed Udara for 16 before de Silva and Sonal Dinusha steadied the innings with an unbeaten 37-run partnership.
De Silva was unbeaten on 31 and Dinusha on 25 at stumps. Earlier, Rishabh Pant smashed 66 off 69 balls and Devdutt Padikkal made 44 as India scored 193 in their second innings to set Sri Lanka a daunting target.
