Princedeep Singh delivered a stunning performance as India edged Belgium 2-2 (4-3 SO) in a thrilling quarterfinal of the FIH Hockey Men’s Junior World Cup in Chennai.
The young goalkeeper was exceptional in the shootout, showcasing skills reminiscent of mentor PR Sreejesh, and was deservedly named Player of the Match. Sharda Nand Tiwari kept India alive with three composed penalty strokes, while Ankit Pal sealed the shootout win. Earlier, captain Rohit equalised with a superb drag-flick after Belgium’s early lead through Gaspard Cornez-Massant.
India now face seven-time champions Germany in the semifinal on December 7.
