Hyderabad Toofans clinched third place in the Hockey India League 2026 with a thrilling 4-3 win over HIL GC at the Kalinga Hockey Stadium in Bhubaneswar.
Amandeep Lakra starred with a brace, while Nilakanta Sharma and Jacob Anderson also found the net for the Toofans. Sam Ward struck twice and Kane Russell added another for HIL GC in a fiercely contested encounter.
After taking a 2-1 lead at half-time, the Toofans showed composure under pressure in the final quarter, defending resolutely to maintain their unbeaten record against HIL GC this season.
