Two-time Olympic bronze medallist Hardik Singh has been recommended for the prestigious Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna, the country’s highest sporting honour.
The 27-year-old Indian hockey midfielder was the sole name proposed for the award, recognising his key role in India’s Olympic bronze medals at Tokyo and Paris, Asian Games gold in 2023 and Asia Cup triumph in 2025.
The sports ministry panel also recommended 24 sportspersons for the Arjuna Awards, including Tejaswin Shankar, Priyanka, Vidit Gujrathi, Divya Deshmukh, Mehuli Ghosh, and badminton pair Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand. No cricketer was shortlisted this year.
