The Ukrainian battled for two hours and 49 minutes to secure the 20th WTA singles title of her career. Svitolina recovered from a 2-4 deficit in the opening set before dominating the deciding set with two crucial breaks of serve. Gauff fought back strongly to win the second-set tiebreak, but Svitolina regained control in the third set and sealed victory with a composed backhand volley.
Earlier in the tournament, Svitolina defeated Elena Rybakina and Iga Swiatek. In the men’s final, Jannik Sinner will face Casper Ruud on Sunday.
