Dhruv Jurel smashed an unbeaten 115 while Rishabh Pant struck a thrilling 63 as India took complete control of the second Test against Sri Lanka in Colombo on Monday.
India declared at 503/9 after a rain delay, with Jurel registering his second Test century and first in Sri Lanka. Pant, returning after retiring hurt on Day 1, attacked the Sri Lankan bowlers with his trademark aggression despite taking a couple of blows. After the declaration, India’s bowlers made an immediate impact as Prasidh Krishna dismissed Lahiru Udara for one before Manav Suthar trapped Prabath Jayasuriya lbw. Sri Lanka ended the day at 8/2, still 495 runs behind India.
As light faded, India remained firmly in command with eight Sri Lankan wickets remaining.
