Debutant Nandni Sharma starred with the ball after superb half-centuries from Jemimah Rodrigues and Yastika Bhatia guided India Women to a 38-run victory over England women’s cricket team in the opening T20I at Chelmsford.
After India slipped to 7/2, Rodrigues smashed 69 off 40 balls while Yastika made 54 in a crucial 126-run partnership. India eventually posted 188/7 despite Lauren Bell taking three wickets. In reply, Amy Jones fought hard with 67, but Nandni’s brilliant 3/34 on debut triggered England’s collapse.
India restricted the hosts to 150/8 to take a 1-0 lead in the three-match series.
