Daryl Mitchell’s sublime unbeaten 131 trumped KL Rahul’s composed 112 not out as New Zealand secured a seven-wicket win over India in the second ODI at Rajkot to level the series 1-1.
On a two-paced pitch, India posted 284/7, built around Rahul’s eighth ODI century. In reply, New Zealand slipped to 46/2 before Mitchell and Will Young added a decisive 162-run stand.
Young made 87, but Mitchell dominated the chase, especially against spin, finishing with 11 fours and two sixes. Glenn Phillips’ calm support ensured a clinical finish with 15 balls to spare.
