Cristiano Ronaldo Confirms 2026 FIFA World Cup Will Be His Last
Portugal captain Cristiano Ronaldo has confirmed that the 2026 FIFA World Cup will be the final World Cup of his illustrious career, although he has no plans to retire from international football yet.
Speaking ahead of Portugal’s Round of 16 clash against Spain, the 41-year-old said he hopes the tournament does not end with the upcoming match. Ronaldo has scored three goals at the 2026 World Cup, including his first-ever knockout-stage World Cup goal against Croatia, and has now netted in six consecutive World Cups.
Portugal’s all-time leading scorer has amassed 146 goals in 232 international appearances, while leading his country to Euro 2016 and UEFA Nations League titles. He also continues chasing the historic milestone of 1,000 career goals.
