Devdutt Padikkal Hits Second Straight Test Century vs Sri Lanka
Devdutt Padikkal continued his sensational form with a second consecutive Test century as India reached 300/5 against Sri Lanka at stumps on Day 1 of the second Test at Colombo’s SSC Ground.
Padikkal scored a superb 117, striking 12 boundaries, and shared crucial partnerships with Shubman Gill and Ravindra Jadeja. Gill contributed a composed 50, while Jadeja made 43 before falling late to Asitha Fernando, who finished the day with 3-46. Padikkal survived two early dropped catches before settling into an authoritative innings, particularly against spin. India lost KL Rahul for 18 and Yashasvi Jaiswal for 45, while Rishabh Pant retired hurt after being struck on the wrist by a bouncer.
