Imran Khan Moved to Islamabad Hospital for Medical Tests
A group of 21 former international cricket captains, including India’s Sunil Gavaskar and Kapil Dev, have urged Pakistan’s government to ensure proper medical care for jailed former prime minister Imran Khan.
Khan, 73, was taken to Islamabad’s Shifa International Hospital for court-ordered medical tests before being returned to jail on Friday. In their letter, the former captains called for an independent medical assessment, particularly regarding reported vision loss in Khan’s right eye. They also urged authorities to ensure his court-ordered weekly family visits take place without interruption and that any treatment recommended by the medical board be provided without delay.
Other signatories include Michael Atherton, Allan Border, Steve Waugh, Adam Gilchrist, Clive Lloyd and John Wright. Khan has been imprisoned since 2023.
