Bruno Fernandes has been named the Premier League Player of the Season after inspiring Manchester United’s return to the UEFA Champions League places.
The Portuguese captain produced a sensational campaign, registering 20 assists and eight goals in 37 league appearances. Fernandes equalled the Premier League’s single-season assist record, previously held by Thierry Henry and Kevin De Bruyne, and could break it in the final game against Brighton & Hove Albion. He also created a league-high 132 chances, 43 more than any other player.
Fernandes became the first United player since Nemanja Vidic in 2011 to win the prestigious award, capping a remarkable individual season.
