Belgium produced one of the greatest comebacks of the FIFA World Cup 2026, overturning a 2-0 deficit to beat Senegal 3-2 after extra time and secure a place in the Round of 16.
Habib Diarra and Ismaila Sarr had put Senegal in complete control before Romelu Lukaku sparked the revival with an 86th-minute goal. Youri Tielemans then headed Belgium level three minutes later to force extra time. With penalties looming, Belgium earned a late spot-kick after a VAR review, and Tielemans calmly converted the winner.
Belgium will now face either the USA or Bosnia and Herzegovina in the Round of 16 on July 6.
