Bangladesh secured a historic 104-run victory over Pakistan in the rain-affected first Test in Dhaka on Tuesday, taking a 1-0 lead in the two-match series.
Fast bowler Nahid Rana starred with career-best figures of 5/40, dismantling Pakistan’s chase of 268 after they slipped from 119/3 to 163 all out. Debutant Abdullah Fazal fought bravely with 66, but Bangladesh’s pace attack proved decisive on the final day.
Captain Najmul Hossain Shanto also shone with scores of 101 and 87, equalling Mushfiqur Rahim’s record of seven Test wins as Bangladesh captain. The second Test begins in Sylhet on Saturday.
