Skipper Mitchell Marsh led from the front as Australia defeated India by seven wickets in a rain-curtailed first ODI at the Optus Stadium, taking a 1-0 lead in the three-match series.
Chasing a revised target of 131 in 26 overs, Marsh’s unbeaten 46 guided the hosts home with 29 balls to spare.
Earlier, India managed 136/9 after a top-order collapse saw Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Shubman Gill dismissed cheaply on their return. Despite brief resistance from KL Rahul (38) and Axar Patel (31), India faltered. For Australia, Josh Hazlewood and Matthew Kuhnemann picked two wickets each.
