World No.1 Aryna Sabalenka successfully defended her Brisbane International title with a straight-sets 6-4, 6-3 win over Marta Kostyuk at Pat Rafter Arena.
The Belarusian claimed the trophy without dropping a set, marking her fifth title in Australia and 22nd career WTA crown. The victory pushed her past Victoria Azarenka for third-most titles among active players. Sabalenka joined Serena Williams and Karolina Pliskova as the only women to defend the season-opening WTA 500 event.
Kostyuk, despite the loss, is set to return to the WTA Top 20 ahead of the Australian Open.
