France began their FIFA World Cup 2026 campaign with an impressive 3-1 victory over Senegal, inspired by a brilliant brace from Kylian Mbappé.
After an entertaining but goalless first half, France broke the deadlock in the 66th minute when Michael Olise set up Mbappe for a composed finish. Substitute Bradley Barcola doubled the lead in the 82nd minute after a fine assist from Adrien Rabiot. Senegal briefly threatened a comeback when Ibrahim Mbaye scored in stoppage time, but Mbappe responded immediately with a stunning long-range strike to seal the victory.
The result gives France a strong start and underlines their status as one of the tournament favourites.
