Ayush Shetty expressed pride after winning silver at the Badminton Asia Championships, calling it a confidence-boosting campaign despite falling short in the final.
The 20-year-old lost to Shi Yu Qi but credited his opponent as the better player on the day. Ranked 25th, Ayush became the first Indian men’s singles shuttler since HS Prannoy in 2018 to secure a podium finish. His remarkable run included wins over top stars like Kunlavut Vitidsarn.
Ayush said the tournament strengthened his belief of becoming the world’s best and now shifts focus to the Thomas Cup, aiming for consistency at the highest level.
