India’s off-spin all-rounder Washington Sundar has been ruled out of the remaining two matches of the ongoing ODI series against New Zealand after sustaining a side strain during the series opener in Vadodara on Sunday.
A source confirmed that Sundar picked up the injury after being hit on the left rib and was taken for scans. His availability for the five-match T20I series, starting January 21 in Nagpur, remains doubtful.
Captain Shubman Gill and teammate Harshit Rana said the medical team is monitoring his recovery. This is India’s third injury setback after Rishabh Pant and Tilak Varma.
