Following England’s 4-1 Ashes defeat to Australia, Kevin Pietersen has urged changes in the national coaching setup and backed former head coach Andy Flower as a potential successor to Brendon McCullum.
The 41-year-old took to X, calling the idea “wild” but praising Flower’s evolution, modern outlook and understanding of Test cricket. Flower previously led England to the 2010 T20 World Cup and three Ashes triumphs, later excelling across global T20 leagues.
Pietersen believes Flower’s recent success shows adaptability. Meanwhile, McCullum, under pressure after mixed results, hopes to revive fortunes at the upcoming T20 World Cup in the subcontinent this year.
