Sunil Chhetri Leads Players’ Plea to Restart Indian Super League Season

Veteran India striker Sunil Chhetri has urged the All India Football Federation (AIFF) to take swift action to restart the Indian Super League (ISL) season, which remains suspended well into November.

In a joint statement shared by top players including Sandesh Jhingan, Gurpreet Singh Sandhu, and Lallianzuala Chhangte, Chhetri said, “We want to play, and now.” The players expressed growing frustration and desperation over the ongoing uncertainty, urging authorities to resolve the impasse. With AIFF’s commercial rights tender failing to draw bidders, the federation now plans to seek Supreme Court intervention to revive India’s top-flight football competition.
