Harry Brook’s 91 Puts England in Command vs Pakistan
Harry Brook smashed a rapid 91 as England strengthened their grip on the first Test against Pakistan at Headingley on Thursday.
England reached 366/8 at stumps on a rain-affected second day, taking a 195-run lead after bowling Pakistan out for 171. Brook, who was dropped for one by Pakistan captain Salman Agha, capitalised on the reprieve and struck 13 fours in his 93-ball knock. He fell nine short of a century when Ali Usman trapped him lbw. Joe Root scored 66, while Jordan Cox made 73 and Dan Lawrence contributed 51.
Root and Cox had earlier shared a 150-run partnership before Pakistan fought back. Usman claimed 5-92, his maiden Test five-wicket haul, but England remained firmly in control.
