India head coach Gautam Gambhir emphasised that team trophies are more important than individual milestones after India’s commanding victory over New Zealand in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 final.
Speaking after the triumph at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Gambhir said his philosophy has always been to focus on winning titles rather than personal records. He praised captain Suryakumar Yadav for sharing the same mindset and for leading the team with a clear focus on collective success. Gambhir also highlighted the fearless batting approach shown by players such as Sanju Samson during the tournament.
According to Gambhir, celebrating trophies instead of milestones will strengthen the team’s culture and keep the focus on achieving bigger goals.
