The Afghanistan Cricket Board has appointed Richard Pybus as head coach of the Afghanistan men’s team, replacing Jonathan Trott after the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026.
Pybus will take charge ahead of the white-ball series against Sri Lanka national cricket team in March. A vastly experienced coach, Pybus has previously worked with the West Indies, Pakistan and Bangladesh, guiding teams to major ICC events, including the 1999 World Cup final.
Afghanistan recently endured a group-stage exit at the T20 World Cup, winning two of four matches.
