Lancashire Cricket have appointed former England pacer James Anderson as their full-time County Championship captain ahead of the 2026 season. Anderson, who agreed to a new one-year deal in November, had served as interim captain during the 2025 campaign.
The 43-year-old, England’s all-time leading wicket-taker, retired from international cricket last year and has represented Lancashire since making his debut in 2002. Anderson expressed pride in leading a balanced squad with promotion to Division One as the main goal.

Josh Bohannon will continue as vice-captain, while Keaton Jennings remains Vitality Blast captain. Head coach Steven Croft praised Anderson’s leadership and experience.
